Tabor Evangelical College
Tabor is a big school centre in Awasa in South Ethiopia, established by the Mekane Yesus Church, with good support from the Norwegian Lutheran Mission (NLM). NORAD (the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation) has been a strong partner in developing this big school.
The church lost the school during the revolution, but the church has now taken over the school again and renovated it. There is today a big school centre consisting of Tabor Evangelical College and Tabor Bible and Missionary School.
In total, there are 800 students.
Some of the teachers are employed by NLM, thus supporting the school.
NSP Aid arranges donations to the school from donators that wish to support students at the school by paying the school fees.
The school year 2011-2012 NSP Aid donators supported 43 students at Tabor Evangelical College. In 2012-2013, 9 students at Tabor Evangelical College and 8 students at Tabor bible and Missionary School received scholarship via NSP Aid.
Several of the students cannot afford going to school, and there is neither public scholarships nor loans in Ethiopia.
